AMD (AMD) - Get Report CEO Lisa Su used a CES keynote address on Wednesday to unveil the Radeon VII, a new high-end gaming chip that will rely on an advanced 7-nanometer (7nm) manufacturing process, and also shared details about 7nm desktop and server CPUs that will be arriving later this year.
During a talk with TheStreet held later that day, Mark Papermaster, AMD's chief technology officer, discussed how AMD is positioning the Radeon VII, and what its plans are for launching cheaper 7nm GPUs. He also commented on AMD's performance expectations for its first 7nm desktop CPUs.
"What we do over the course of the year is what we do every year. We'll round out the whole roadmap," Papermaster said about AMD's 2019 plans for its 7nm GPU lineup. "We're really excited to start on the high-end....you'll see the announcements over the course of the year as we round out our Radeon roadmap."
