Amazon ( (AMZN) - Get Amazon.com, Inc. Report) unveiled new warehouse robots aimed at improving its employee safety. The company, which has been constantly scrutinized for the poor working condition of its warehouse employees, released a press statement on Sunday to make people aware of its efforts to help its workers.
"From testing new workstations to innovating on high-tech autonomous vehicles, Amazon’s Robotics and Advanced Technology teams focus on making work safer for employees," the company said.
These are Amazon's new robots:
- Ernie: The robot delivers totes to employees. The company says that Ernie will make their facilities safer for employees
- Bert: The robot carries items across the warehouse. The company says that Bert could help lessen the strain on employees
- Scooter: The robot pulls carts through a fulfillment center. The company says that it could reduce the risk of strains on their employees, or even collisions.
- Kermit: The robot moves empty totes at an Amazon fulfillment center. The company says that it will help get empty totes back to the starting line.
