Amazon AMZN says it will open its Seattle-based cashier-free convenience store concept in early 2017.
Amazon (AMZN) - Get Report says it will open its Seattle-based cashier-free convenience store concept in early 2017. Shoppers will be able to shop for groceries at the 1,800 square foot store, and once they are finished, walk out without checking out. The company will use technology that autimatically detects when products are taken from or returned to shelves and track those items in a virtual cart. Amazon will then charge patrons' Amazon accounts shortly after and send customers the reciept for their purchases.
