Amazon to Build Brick-and-Mortar Presence With RadioShack Stores
Amazon is in the news today as we get word that RadioShack is one step closer to bankruptcy. The struggling electronics chain has been losing money for the past two years, as other outlets to buy electronics have grown. Amazon is one of the most popular portals for such purchases. However, the e-commerce giant also recognizes its important for the consumer to touch and feel products before they purchase. It's an area where Apple trumps Amazon again and again, given its glitzy stores. So, word has it that Amazon is in talks to buy some RadioShack locations after it files for bankruptcy, so consumers, will in fact, have a physical brick-and-mortar location to check out hardware and pickup orders. One such store was expected to pop up in New York City this past holiday, but it never transpired. Nonetheless, Amazon continues to invest in new hardware as it pushes beyond its core business of selling things online.
