Amazon's (AMZN - Get Report) year-long search for their second headquarters, dubbed HQ2, is over.

After being wooed by many cities around the U.S, the Seattle based technology and e-commerce giant has announced its decision to split the headquarters between Long Island City, New York and National Landing in Virginia.

The two cities beat out other major metropolitan areas, including Chicago, Dallas, and Miami.

Between the two cities, HQ2 is expected to create 50,000 jobs and help stimulate the growth of the neighborhoods.

Amazon is expected to invest $5 billion into the project.
