Altera Shares Jump on Potential Merger With Intel

Altera (ALTR) ended Monday's trading day up almost 6 percent, making it TheStreet's Move of the Day. Altera rallied after a source told the New York Post that the company had resumed takeover talks with Intel (INTC) for a reported $13 billion merger. Both companies had previously been in touch about a deal back in April, but a CNBC report said Altera did not accept Intel's offer, which was said to be close to or just above $50 per share. Shares of Altera are trading at $46.93 per share and are up 27 percent since the start of the year. While Intel's stock ended Monday's trading day higher by 1 percent, but fell 8 percent year-to-date.
