The holiday season is traditionally strong for Akamai as consumers spend extra time on the internet downloading media, software and mobile applications, said the company's CEO Dr. Tom Leighton. Leighton added that Akamai beat Wall Street estimates in the third quarter as a result of stronger than expected web traffic and strong performances in its media and security businesses. He said Akamai delivers 4K video today, but the adoption is just getting started and will soon drive even more business Akamai's way. Finally, Leighton said the company will be active in M&A in 2015 and will continue to return cash to shareholders through buybacks.
