In a letter to customers on its Web site on Saturday, Aereo chief executive Chet Kanojia said the company decided to pause its operations temporarily as it consults with the court and maps out its next steps, adding that the company's journey "is far from done." In a 6-to-3 decision, the Supreme Court justices ruled in favor of the major broadcasters last Wednesday, who argued that Aereo's service violates copyright law unless the company pays licensing fees. The company has vowed to keep fighting, and for now, is issuing a refund to all of its customers for their last paid month. Kanojia said the company's supporters can sign up for updates at ProtectmyAntenna.org. TheStreet's Brittany Umar reports from New York.
