A new survey sheds light on consumer spending during the first two quarters of 2014. CARD.com analyzed purchases among its pool of 250,000 prepaid debit card holders to see what categories consumers spent money on. Women are spending more of their money on fast food restaurants, followed by gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants and business serves, while men spend more of their money on gas, along with fast food restaurants, grocery stores, restaurants and drug stores. Consumers are grappling with higher prices at grocery store, especially as the inflation rate starts to inch past the Federal Reserve's 2% target. TheStreet's Scott Gamm has details.
