Netflix's (NFLX) - Get Reportearnings report showed that the company is still growing its subscribers at an impressive pace, despite the fact that its partnership with Disney is drawing to a close and it will soon lose a significant portion of its popular content when Disney launches its own streaming service.
With the number of subscribers on the rise, Netflix is boosting its investment in original programming. This is reflected in the streaming giant's plans to spend up to $8 billion on original content in the next year. While original programming has sometimes paid off for Netflix and brought in viewers, other projects have fallen flat with subscribers and critics.
