Wall Street's favorite disruptor, Amazon.com (AMZN) - Get Report , has struck once again. Following its landmark acquisition of Whole Foods (WFM) , Amazon announced that it will be acquiring smart doorbell maker Ring for around $1 billion.

Ring manufacturers doorbells that allow users to see who is at the door before they answer.
