5 Must-Know Features Of Apple's Huge New World Trade Center Store
Tech giant Apple (AAPL) - Get Report may be making a huge push to open retail stores in China, but it clearly still loves the grand stage of New York City. On Tuesday, Apple swung open the doors to huge crowds at its latest store in the Big Apple inside of Westfield's new mall at the World Trade Center. The two-level store was chock full of all things Apple such as the Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad and Beats by Dre headphones. But, there were also several surprises TheStreet stumbled upon in the look and feel of the store while touring it, all of which were in keeping with Apple's efforts under retail chief and former Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts to upgrade the design of its locations. Further, we even noticed multiple products on the shelves that weren't typical to an Apple store as the company tries to cash in on hot trends such as connected fitness gear and smart home technology. In short, this wasn't your normal mall-based Apple store. The tech king now has seven retail locations in Manhattan alone, including the well-known Fifth Avenue cube. Three other New York City stores are situated in Staten Island, and in the Brooklyn Williamsburg area that just opened a few weeks ago. Apple currently has has about 481 stores in 18 countries. With its store base well situated in the city that never sleeps, Apple looks prepared to capitalize on the next iteration of the iPhone that may be unveiled on Sept. 7.
