Aside from acting as an iconic tool to ring in the New Year, the Times Square New Year's Eve Ball is an important part of Waterford's brand, the crystal manufacturer, which has been designing the ball since 1999. The ball has almost 2,700 Waterford crystal triangles and will be seen by millions across the globe in this annual tradition, which dates back to 1907, when the first ball was lowered at the top of Manhattan's One Times Square. Plus, 32,200 Philips LED lights will illuminate the nearly 12,000 pound ball. TheStreet's Scott Gamm speaks with Regan Iglesia, Waterford's VP & Global Brand Director on what makes 2015's ball different from previous years and how the ball's design aims to represent courage and resolve in the New Year.
