The Pentagon says that a Texas company has won a $147.5 million flood control contract to widen a drainage canal in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Pentagon says that a Texas company has won a $147.5 million flood control contract to widen a drainage canal in New Orleans, Louisiana. Flooding is a constant problem in New Orleans. On heavy rainy days, many New Orleanians find themselves trudging through ankle-deep flooded streets in order to get to their cars. According to a daily list of military contracts, Renda/J Bros. JV, which is a company based out of Roanoke, Texas, will widen the Florida Avenue Canal from St. Ferdinand St. to Peoples Ave. The company was one of three submitting bids to the Corps of Engineers. The estimated completion date is set for October. 15, 2017.
