Semiconductor stocks are at the center of some of the most exciting trends in technology from autonomous cars to artificial intelligence. 

"So what if cell phones aren't so hot anymore," said Stephen Guilfoyle, founder and president of Sarge986 LLC and panelist on TheStreet's Trading Strategies roundtable with host Jim Cramer. "There is so much demand for semiconductor chips for NAND and DRAM right now. Intel (INTC - Get Report) just sold a bunch of NAND in China."

Guilfoyle pointed to the inexpensive valuations of semiconductor stocks, with the exception of Nvidia (NVDA - Get Report) .
