There are a host of significant growth trends taking place in emerging markets, according to one expert. 

"You invest in the emerging markets for growth," said Brian Levitt, senior investment strategist at OppenheimerFunds during TheStreet's Trading Strategies roundtable with host Jim Cramer. "There are a lot of big growth themes taking place - that's where the labor force is coming from, that's where the productivity gains are coming from, that's where the growing affluence is coming from."

It's important to invest in companies, rather than countries, according to Levitt. 

Examples of emerging market economies include Brazil and India, among others.
