Shares of Action Alerts Plus holding Waste Management (WM) shares have rocketed over the past two years. The stock is up around 68% vs. S&P 500's 50% gain.

Apparently disposing of your waste is pretty profitable.

They have created a "Zero Waste" program now that incorporates recycling, material reuse, waste minimization and energy creation to achieve that "no waste" goal.

So whether its tech waste or healthcare byproducts, disposing of all of it not only helps our Earth, it has clearly helped the stock.

Be sure to check out Brian Sozzi's interview with CEO Jim Fish.  "Part of what jazzes me up over the next five to ten years is that we have a great business model. Recycling and trash don't go away, it is a business that has such a great presence," says Fish.

But watch our video here to see how zero waste has become part of their future plans.
