CVS Promotes Truth-In Photos
CVS (CVS) Bans Beauty Product Photo Manipulation by 2020 On Monday.
The nation's largest drug story chain announced a new marketing strategy Beauty product photo alterations and manipulations will be eliminated.
"CVS Beauty Mark"
CVS brand beauty product photos in stores and online will have a "CVS Beauty Mark".The transparency label will indicate to customers that the photos have not been retouched.
Maybelline, L'Oreal, Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson
CVS hopes to sway suppliers and those who don't comply by 2020 will be labeled "digitally modified". Suppliers include Procter & Gamble (PG) , Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) , Unilever (UN) , L'Oreal and Maybelline.
CVS operates about 10,000 pharmacy drug stores and makes over $3.4 billion from its beauty products.
