 Talk about awkward. In 2017 during the announcement of best picture Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway accidentally called on La La Land instead of Moonlight. Afterwards they had to break down the news that Moonlight was the rightful winner. 

  • Trump's misspelling of the word coverage leads to laughs

President Trump tweeted out what the word "covfefe" instead of coverage in a tweet. 

  • Solar Eclipse

The solar eclipse happened on August 21, 2017. It was the first one that has been visible in the United States in 38 years.

  • Donald Trump battles the NFL

Colin Kaepernick's started a movement protesting unfair police brutality on injustices towards Africa Americans in the U.S. In doing so, he would take a knee during the national anthem as a form of a silent protest. Once people learned what he was doing it for, other NFL platers joined him. As a result President Trump said people who kneel should be suspended from the team.

  • The #MeToo campaign

When actress Ashley Judd, 49, spoke out against Harvey Weinstein and his sexual advantages towards her it blew up on the media. More than 60 other women have spoke out again Weinstein as well. Soon women from all over were using #metoo to talk about past or current sexual assaults that have been made towards them, specifically with politicians and celebrities.

  • Kendall Jenner's controversial Pepsi ad

In a failed attempt to represent equality, Jenner's Pepsi ad seriously dumbfounded the nation. In the ad there was a protest going on with a diverse set of people. Jenner hands the police officer a Pepsi and everything calms and every is happy. The ad obviously received a lot of backlash and Pepsi released an apology.
