CVS is expected to pay more than $66 billion for the health care company, according to The Wall Street Journal. The deal will be comprised mainly of cash would value Aetna at between $200 & $205 a share.
Aetna's shares rose around 1% as speculation about the acquisition grew.
CVS and Aetna have not publicly commented.
