Not every company is lucky enough to have a beloved sports figure as an investor. Yet, that's the case with the chain Blaze Pizza, in which the NBA star LeBron James has invested and is still active.

CEO and president of Blaze, Jim Mizes, sat down with TheStreet recently is discuss the chain's trajectory, the popularity of pizza and its most famous investor.

"LeBron is still an investor, both in Blaze Pizza and he owns some franchise restaurants in Chicago and in south Miami Beach in South Florida," said Mizes. "LeBron is our spokesperson. He continues to tweet about us and talk about us. And he is just one of the many ways that he helps us punch above our weight in terms of our presence in the marketplace and our awareness."

Customers at times ask for a 'LeBron', when ordering a pie at Blaze, Mizes said, but there's no such pizza on the menu of the build-it-yourself pizza chain.
