With the advancement of technology throughout the years, we have innovative new ways of getting things done faster.

Though technological advancements may be obvious, it's easy to forget the tasks that have been made mundane by the latest innovations. Here are things the next generation will probably never have to do:

Memorize phone numbers:

Who has time to remember phone numbers? Instead of remembering or even carrying around a phone book, typing a number and saving it in your phone is quite the advancement.

Figure out math in your head:

For all those people who aren't that capable of doing quick math in your head, thank goodness there's a solution. Having a calculator on your phone makes it simple to do some fast and thorough calculations.

Tell time by hands on a clock:

Instead of squinting at your wrist or even staring at the big clock to tell time, life just got a bit simpler.

Make physical photo albums:

Of course back then creating photo albums were meticulous and a bit time consuming, but with Instagram (FB) , your shareable moments are now online nearly instantly.

Have a CD or record collection:

Now many people prefer to download music to their phones. When was the last time you bought an actual CD?

Call a theater for showtimes:

Or actually going to a theater...Netflix (NFLX) anyone?

Use phone booths:

Save your quarters for a wishing well (if you can find one).

Consult with travel agents:

Travel agents are still around, but definitely dwindling. With sites like Expedia (EXPE) and TripAdvisor (TRIP)  it's making it easier for us to book flights and plan our own travels.

Send handwritten letters:

Sending a handwritten letter seems very personal and heartfelt, but nowadays sending a quick email or text is the norm.

Use phone books:

Getting phone books on your doorstep isn't that far back. More than likely is someone wants your number, they will Google (GOOGL) you.
