Shares of the logistics rose slightly as third quarter earnings of $1.45 a share came in line with Wall Street estimates. Next-day air shipments rose 8%, spurred by the continued transition to online shopping. Revenue per package increased 2% spurred by price hikes from UPS.
The company said that deliveries between Black Friday and New Year's Eve will increase by 5% from the prior year. UPS believes it's ready to handle the holiday season sales spike after a year of capacity investments, CFO Richard Peretz told TheStreet.
