With Halloween quickly approaching, it's no secret that yearly candy sales are more of a treat than a trick for investors. According to the National Retail Federation, the amount spent on Halloween this year is forecast to reach a new high of $9.1 billion.
Of that spooky total, $2.7 billion is expected to be spent on ensuring trick-or-treaters receive their yearly sugar rush. Naturally the candy bigwigs including Mondelez (MDLZ) , Nestle (NSRGY) and Hershey (HSY) hope Halloween sales mean they have one less thing to worry about when it comes to reporting their quarterly earnings reports.
