Jim Cramer sat down for lunch with his good friend Dylan Ratigan and shared the story of how his kids influence his purchases.

From bottled water to Gilette (PG) razors, he is now conscious of how much waste is generated by everyday products.

It isn't just spending, the two discussed being forward-looking while investing.

Ratigan brought up investing in distributed networks including Apple (AAPL) for its iPhone and Google (GOOG) for the Android OS.

He also brought up Tesla (TSLA) for its distributed power production.
