Ten years ago, on August 9 2007, BNP Paribas, a French bank, caught the world of finance off-guard by freezing three funds with exposure to mortgage loans amid liquidity worries.
Shortly after, the Dow lost 387 points and wouldn't see a positive day again until August 17th.
