The U.S. spends way too much on health care.

That's the assessment from Mario Schlosser, CEO and Co-Founder of Oscar Health, a startup health insurance company that announced a partnership with Humana (HUM - Get Report) this week to sell insurance to small businesses in Tennessee.

"We spend about 18% of our GDP on health care," Schlosser said. "Switzerland, Germany - all of the other rich countries in the world spend maybe 10-11% of GDP on health care."

Schlosser said the health care costs are high because the health care value chain is opaque.
