Consulting and accounting clients demand a diverse team that mirrors their workforce, says Deepa Purushothaman, Deloitte managing principal. "People want to buy from a product from people they can relate too," says Purushothaman, who is also the national managing director of WIN, Deloitte's Women's Initiative, which is dedicated to building opportunity, enrichment, and new thinking around talent and inclusion in the workforce. So Deloitte is keenly aware that they can no longer send teams of "all white men" out to clients.
