On Friday, February 24, investors await quarterly results from J.C. Penney (JCP) and Foot Locker (FL) . Analysts expect J.C. Penney to report earnings of $0.61 a share on sales of $3.98 billion. During the same time a year ago, the retailer posted earnings of $0.39 a share on sales of $4 billion. As for Foot Locker, analysts expect the company to earn $1.32 a share on sales of $2.1 billion. As for the same quarter a year ago, earnings per share stood at $1.16 on revenue of roughly $2 billion. As for economic data, on Friday, new home sales of January are released at 10 a.m. Eastern, while the University of Michigan's consumer sentiment survey for February is out at the same time.
