When you step into the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG edition, it's not hard to feel as if you own the highway.

Originally built as a military vehicle, the "G Wagon" is a monstrous luxury SUV with stunning off-road performance, epic torque and the most intimidating road presence around. Mercedes-Benz indeed kept that heritage alive in the 2017 special edition AMG model TheStreet recently tested, which boasted a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine making a whopping 563 hp and neck-turning 561 lb-ft of torque.

From its surprisingly lighting-fast acceleration (it's a three-ton SUV that goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds) to imposing exterior to tricked-out interior, this is one $162,000 auto that you have to see to believe. A Ford (F) Expedition or Cadillac Escalade from General Motors (GM) this is not.
