Ford (F - Get Report) has opened its first-ever interactive experience studio at the Westfield World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, a mall 300,000 commuters pass through each day. Known as the FordHub, the space aims to educate consumers about how Ford is envisioning transportation's future, which includes self-driving and electric vehicles. Numerous interactive displays are set up throughout the space, including a virtual reality headset and sensor that allows a user to build a Mustang at the top of the Empire State Building. There's also a lighting display that includes 5,000 Ford matchbox cars. "Customers can come, they can get educated, they can collaborate with us, and they can get entertained," explained Elena Ford, a vice president and the great-great-grandaughter of automaker and Ford founder Henry Ford. She explained that just as the company's namesake was an innovator, Ford is now trying to find innovative "mobility solutions" for consumers, which can even include bike-sharing.
