Ford Motor (F - Get Report) hopes its new subcompact EcoSport SUV will bring new buyers to the brand when it hits dealerships in early 2018. The EcoSport is already built in six different locations around the world and sold in 140 countries, but it's the first time it will be coming to the U.S. Ford's SUV Marketing Manger Mike O'Brien says, "Millennials are looking for a great looking utility that is still affordable but also has the technology to keep them connected." Beyond Millennials, the other target market are empty nest baby boomers. "Many baby boomers have been in SUVs for 20 years but the truth is they just don't need as much space anymore and so many of them are downsizing," says O'Brien. The SUV segment has been on fire this year and Ford expects sales to double by 2020. O'Brien says, "We think we're catching the curve just at the right time."
