Brocade Communications Systems Inc. (BRCD) is buying Ruckus Wireless Inc. (RKUS) in a cash and stock deal, the companies said Monday. Based on Brocade's closing price on April 1, the deal values Ruckus at $14.43 per share, or about $1.5 billion, and may fluctuate until close. Net of estimated cash acquired, the deal value is around $1.2 billion. Based in Sunnyvale, Calif., Ruckus is a  supplier of wireless systems for the mobile Internet infrastructure market. In March of last year, The Deal's Chris Nolter noted Ruckus Wireless as among the deal candidates in the networking technology sector, citing a report by stock analyst Paul Silverstein of Cowen & Co. According to Monday's deal announcement, Ruckus shareholders will receive $6.45 in cash and 0.75 shares of Brocade common stock for each Ruckus share.
