A growing number of orthopedists in recent years have felt pressed to abandon their independent practices and join hospital staffs. Chris Romandetti, CEO of First Choice Healthcare Solutions (FCHS), said he is offering those doctors an alternative in the form of non-physician owned medical centers. 'Let us take the burden of the back of the house operation and allow a doctor to be a doctor,' said Romandetti. Melbourne, Florida-based First Choice Healthcare Solutions is trying to build a national collective of medical centers throughout the U.S. with a concentration in neurology, orthopaedics, spine surgery and interventional pain medicine, as well as related ancillary care services. The regional network currently administers over 100,000 patient visits each year and is comprised of First Choice Medical Group, The B.A.C.K. Center and Crane Creek Surgery Center. Romandetti said the patient is also best served by bringing all the aspects of orthopedic surgery under a single roof.
