Dan Dicker, energy contributor for thestreet.com, talks with Rhonda Schaffler about the outlook for solar stocks in the coming year. While fossil fuels remain in the doldrums, leaving conventional energy stocks behind, Solar stocks are being helped in the new year by two recent initiatives: The Paris Climate Accord, which laid out carbon reduction standards for each of the 160 nations, and the recent extension of tax incentives for renewable energy projects. Dicker believes the extension of tax incentives will allow commercial electricity customers and utilities to plan for deeper conversions, particularly from coal, to solar power. Two stocks that Dicker believe have the leg up in the solar space are First Solar (FSLR) and JA Solar (JASO).
