Stocks dropped across the board Monday including small caps in the Russell 2000. The blue chips ended down triple digits on worries the economy in China is slowing and on housing news at home. Existing home sales unexpectedly fell in August. The weak housing data brought down home builder stocks like Pulte Homes (PHM), KB Home (KBH) and Toll Brothers (TOL). Small cap stocks tumbled in today's trading. Carbo Ceramics (CRR) was one of worst performers on the Russell 2000 index. Shares fell 16% after the company said sales will fall from the previous quarter. Chinanet (CNET) was one of the most actively traded and is up nearly 62%. The Chinese advertising company said it was in talks with an online shopping site owned by Alibaba (BABA) to provide targeted marketing service. Thousands of demonstrators clogged Wall Street Monday to protest the role big companies play in climate change.
