Cognizant Technology Solutions said it would buy private health care IT services company TriZetto for $2.7 billion in cash. Cognizant CEO Francisco D'Souza said with structural shifts occurring in the health care space due to reform and cost pressure, there is significant growth opportunity. The company said TriZetto will bring the company multiple industry-leading software platforms, enhanced competitiveness and about $1.5 billion in potential cumulative revenue synergies over the next five years. Cognizant will finance the transaction through cash on hand and debt. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2014.
