Geopolitical problems are raising emotions in the market, making it easier to identify short sale candidates, said Dr. Tom Howard, CEO of AthenaInvest. Howard said his AdvisorShares Athena International Bear ETF (HDGI) is a short-only international equities portfolio with a tactical overlay. HDGI uses a behavioral finance investment approach to identify the holdings with the least conviction from the worst active managers. It then consolidates those names with broader market indicators like investor preferences and company management's confidence in order to find the best short candidates.
