Stocks moved higher on light volume as investors regained confidence as a result of various deals. Priceline announced it was buying Open Table, which gave a lift to the Nasdaq index. Private equity group Sycamore Partners was making a move for the Express clothing chain and that moved the stock price much higher. Rockwell economist Peter Cardillo said these deals help to keep investors positive about stocks. He also believes that the situation in Iraq will have a limited effect on the market. Cardillo continues to feel that the economy is recovering at a relatively steady pace.
