President Obama's plan to cut carbon emissions is directed squarely at coal-fired power plants, which are the largest source of carbon pollution. Coal supporters are claiming that jobs and local economies will be hurt, but coal exports and volumes had already started to decline even before the announcement. Coal prices are at a six-year low, but that hasn't helped the coal business. David Nelson of Belpointe Asset Management points out that not only will coal companies be hurt by the new legislation, but the rail companies that transport the coal will be hurt as well
