Former IBM CEO Sam Palmisano explains how new technologies can revolutionize emerging markets, citing the specific example of 3-D printing. In addition to reducing supply chain costs, 3-D printing also helps companies develop their prototypes faster, he said. In his latest role as a director of the Center for Global Enterprise, Palmisano is intently focused on the issues around globalization, and describes the advent of 3-D manufacturing as inevitable. "If it's inevitable, you need to learn it and get on with it," he said. "If you do not move to the future, you will suffer the implications of being behind."
