Slowing growth in China sparked fear into nervous portfolio managers, who began selling the market. Once the S&P 500 sold below 1830, selling began to steamroll. Floor Broker Ben Willis of Albert Fried & Co. also noted that a disappointment from McDonalds didn't instill confidence in the market.
