European Council President Donald Tusk has stated that the U.K. is responsible for deciding how Brexit ends. Speaking to the European Parliament Tusk said, "It is in fact up to London how this will end: With a good deal, no deal or no Brexit."

The pound was under pressure Tuesday morning, down 0.19% against the greenback to $1.3172.

Tusk was responding to Prime Minister Theresa May who on Monday told her parliament that it was up to the remaining 27 European Union countries "to consider what they want to see from the future relationship so that the next phase of negotiations can begin."

The remarks come after Luxembourg's Finance Minister commented on London's future after Brexit. Pierre Gramenga said the City of London must remain the top global financial hub post-Brexit.
