Are you making a list and checking it twice?

It's that time of year again and that means it's important to not only check your financial health, but also take a look at your investments.

Carol Schleif, deputy chief investment officer at Abbot Downing, broke down her advice for investors heading into 2019.

One piece of key advice?

"Make sure that the balance sheets are in good shape on [the] companies" that you're invested in, Schleif said. "Companies that have solid balance sheets really benefit from economic pullbacks because they're able to go do some acquisitions."

She also advised that investors write their investment objectives down.

"Stay diversified and stay global," said Schleif.
