Tesla has released a highly-anticipated update to its autonomous driving software—an update which contains a significant rewrite to fundamental pieces of the software. See the included video to watch the beta in action as customer vehicles autonomously navigate through left-hand turns, roundabouts, and more.

Although Tesla has said the user interface will be updated as the rewrite is finalized, the beta visualization provides a great look at the amount of detail Tesla is able to interpret from their vision-based system.

The left side of the screen in the image above shows the visualization of Tesla correctly interpreting an entire intersection, including a roundabout and cross-traffic lanes.

Tesla owner @brandonee916 on Twitter shared some videos of the software in action, as well as some details on his experience. Describing the vehicle handling a left-hand turn, the owner wrote, "it turned on the signal [and] waited for the car and pedestrians... at night!"

Tesla has reportedly given permission to owners with the beta to share their experiences online, so investors will be keeping a close eye out for more videos in the coming days demonstrating Tesla's new autonomous capability. So far, it seems like a significant advancement.
