A recent report, citing sources with knowledge of the matter, indicated that the
Securities and Exchange Commission
is expected to clear the acquisitions, which combined are valued at $35 billion, by today or Monday. Deutsche Telekom hopes to close the VoiceStream deal by the middle of the year.
The American depositary shares of Deutsche Telekom recently lost $1, or 3.3%, to $29.18 in
New York Stock Exchange
trading, while VoiceStream, which is based in Bellevue, Wash., was down $3.94, or 3.3%, to $114 in recent
activity. Powertel lost $2.75, or 3.6%, to $73.44.
