The new round of speculation comes a week after Barclays analysts predicted a

These reports confirm a story

and would arrive in the months to follow.
The current round of speculation adds fuel to the investment theme that Apple will see an entire new leg of hyper growth should it end its exclusive sales deal with
and start selling phones to some of Verizon's 92 million customers.
Verizon shares, which were down 2% amid a widespread selloff, reversed course on word of the
report Tuesday and rose 1% to $29.16 briefly.
