was down 4.7% in midmorning as several software stocks suffered on the heels of sector downgrades from Credit Suisse First Boston and Goldman Sachs.

Also struggling were Oracle (ORCL) - Get Report, down 2%; Microsoft (MSFT) - Get Report, down 3.8%; and Check Point (CHKP) - Get Report, down 5.2%.

Late Wednesday, CSFB downgraded or cut short-term estimates on several business-to-business and electronic commerce software makers, saying their products will be low priorities for corporate customers. Goldman Sachs issued a similar downgrade Monday.
