( SLR) and other major contract manufacturers were up sharply Friday, as technology issues bounced on a surprisingly good jobs report.
The biggest percentage gainers were Solectron, up 27 cents, or 4.7%, to $6.05 a share;
, gaining $1.12, or 7%, to $17.16 and
up 90 cents, or 3.4% to $27.52.
Another plus: All of those companies, as well as
, were upgraded to outperform on Thursday by Robert W. Baird.
"Based on increasing confidence of EMS providers, improved OEM business trends, andOEMs' intention to increase outsourcing, we have an increased conviction of a sustainedrecovery in the EMS industry," Baird analyst Reik Read wrote in a note to clients.
Read noted, however, that
"share price already reflects the potential earningsleverage. Therefore, we maintain our Neutral rating."
