NEW YORK (

TheStreet

) -- It looks like

Twitter

has had another "Fail Whale."

The popular micro-blogging social network experienced its second outage this year on Thursday. The service has been down for around an hour, similar to its

first outage

last month.

Twitter recently altered its logo, Larry.

"Fail Whale" refers to the image shown on the website when the service is down. A whale appears, which users have affectionately coined the "Fail Whale."

Twitter has grown in popularity, as users seek alternatives to

Facebook

(FB) - Get Report

and other forms of communication. Facebook is set to report its first quarterly earnings report after Thursday's closing bell.

A Twitter spokeswoman responded to

TheStreet's

request for comment. "We're aware of the issue and are looking into it. Will let you know when we have an update. And keep an eye on status.twitter.com for updates as well."
